From the recording Bern Baby Bern
Lyrics
In halls where laws are forged, not cast,
A Berning fire defies the past.
Each vision aimed to bridge the cracks,
Meets greed’s relentless, shadowed traps.
Veterans left in need, we now stand—
No benefit withheld, no empty hands.
Oh, nothing short of Medicare for All,
To answer justice’s unwavering call.
Transparency! The Fed must yield—
No dark deals, no more truths concealed.
Though few our wins, our tale is told,
In voices fierce, in hearts bold.
Though our successful bills may be few,
Our passion for reform rings wholly true.
Yet embers glow where shadows fall,
We bear the torch to light the halls.
Though advocates are few in number,
They promise The People, they'll remember.
There's more strength in those who fight,
If they're consistent in keeping rights.
We accept the torch passed on by generations,
We keep it lit bright, keeping preparations,
So we can entrust it to a new era,
And they can pass it onward without error.
For it isn't a gift for us to keep,
But a duty, not to just fall asleep,
When calm prevails, and watchfires dim,
We’ll tend the flame, entrust it to them,
When skies are peaceful, harvests plentiful,
So all can forge a world more beautiful.
